What is Sinus Lifting?
Sinus lifting is a technique used to increase bone volume in the posterior upper jaw for implant placement. The sinus cavity can drop and the surrounding bone can weaken due to tooth loss in the upper jaw.
Application Methods
- Closed technique: The thin channel created for the implant is filled with bone powder. Less invasive method
- Open technique: A flap is opened at the implant site to allow bone powder addition from the side
Advantages
- Helps the dental implant bond better to the jawbone and increases success rate
- Prevents bone loss during implant surgery and extends implant life
- Provides a more natural appearance as the implant will be surrounded by sufficient bone
