March 2025 Ankara Fast Drive Orthodontics Scientific Event
Situations that require immediate intervention by your doctor in wireless orthodontic treatment are RARELY encountered. Most of the time, you can intervene in any mishaps yourself and report the situation to your doctor at the next appointment date. You can check out our article for What you need to know when starting your orthodontic treatment with clear aligners.
Below Some unexpected situations that may be encountered in transparent aligner treatments and what you should do are explained;
Pressure - Squeezing - I Feel Pain
During orthodontic treatment with transparent aligners, a feeling of pressure and related discomfort may occur. Considering the movement of teeth within the bone, this is a natural part of the treatment process. Compared to braces treatment, the pain intensity is much lower with transparent aligners. You are likely to experience discomfort in the first days of your treatment or the first day of each new plate. Taking the transition to the new plate at night and spending the first hours of the new plate while sleeping will help keep the feeling of discomfort to a minimum. Low-dose painkillers that you can use with your doctor's recommendation will ensure that you have a comfortable treatment process.
I Can't Remove Clear Plates?
In the first days of wireless orthodontics treatment with transparent aligners, it may be difficult for the aligners to sit on the teeth or to be removed. This situation is caused by the harder structure of the plate in the first days, and is generally seen as a result of treating the plates delicately. There is no need to hesitate when applying removal forces to transparent aligners. It is very difficult for plaques to be broken or damaged by removal forces. The important point here is to start removing by applying force from both sides of the jaw and from back to front.
Clear Alquers Disappeared
One of the situations that can often happen to us in daily life is the loss of one or more records. If the upper and lower transparent plate set you are actively using is lost, please continue using the previous plate and contact us immediately. Usually, moving on to the next plate will be enough to save the situation. However, if the records in the order are lost, the records need to be re-ordered, in which case you should contact us without delay.
Clear Plates Broken
During our treatment, we generally change a set of transparent aligners after using them for7-10 days. This is a short period of time for the plaques to weaken mechanically and break. If your records are broken within 7-10 days, we recommend that you contact us.
Transparent Plates Do Not Sit - They Do Not Set
It is very difficult for a set of clear aligners to become completely incompatible in the mouth. If such a situation occurs, the treatment may have been interrupted for a long time or advanced plates may be tried to be inserted instead of the next plate number.
The incompatibility situation we frequently encounter is that a certain area of the plate does not fit well enough and it shows stretching in that area. In this case, the first possibility that should come to our mind is that one edge of the plate bends inward. It will be useful to remove the transparent plates and visually check all edges. If there is no curl and the aligners do not fit well enough, we recommend that you contact us.
Attachment Fell or Broken
In wire-free orthodontic treatments with transparent plaque, the temporary aesthetic filling pieces that we stick on the teeth to ensure that the plaque adheres to the teeth better and can apply force are called "attachments". In order for these filling pieces to remain healthy throughout the treatment, it is necessary to pay attention to the daily oral care routine. Since attachments play a critical role during treatment, their deficiencies may negatively affect the treatment. Therefore, any attachmentWe recommend that you contact us when you notice a deficiency.
Transparent Plates Become Colorful
Orthodontic Treatment we generally use a set of clear aligners for 7-10 days and then switch to the next set of aligners. This period is sufficient for the plaques to maintain their transparent and bright appearance. In brace-free orthodontics, drinking cold drinks 1-2 times a day while the transparent aligners are in the mouth will not have a negative effect on the appearance of the aligners. However, unfortunately, consuming hot beverages, eating with plaques on, and heavy smoking/tobacco consumption can cause rapid color change in the plaques. In addition, it should not be forgotten that the plaque should be brushed twice a day, in the morning and in the evening, in order to maintain the transparent and bright appearance of the plaque.
